Presentation Title Smart Factory Web with OPC UA and AutomationML
Summary The Smart Factory Web, an approved testbed of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), is being realized jointly by KETI and Fraunhofer IOSB. The collaboration between KETI and Fraunhofer IOSB is part of a research project “IIoT Platform for Smart Factories” financed by the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE). The Smart Factory Web is a platform to explore the usage of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) concepts and integrating IT architectures in a web of distributed smart factories. The Smart Factory Web aims to network a web of smart factories to improve order fulfillment by aligning capacity across production sites with flexible adaptation of production capabilities and sharing of resources, assets and inventory. The main usage scenario is accordingly “order driven adaptive production”. Model factories of KETI in Pangyo and Ansan (South Korea) and of IOSB in Karlsruhe and Lemgo in Germany will be linked via the Smart Factory Web.
The presentation will give an overview of the Smart Factory Web and show how the key standards OPC UA and AutomationML (IEC 62714) are used in combination to achieve its goals. AutomationML describes the engineering data of a factory at any desired level of detail, covering the mechanical, electrical and data communication characteristics of all processing stations and components. This engineering data is fundamental to an efficient linking and adaptation of production processes, e.g. with the technique Plug & Work. The standard DIN SPEC 16592 “Combining AutomationML and OPC Unified Architecture” and recent work in the AutomationML Verein on a Best Practice Recommendation for DataVariables specify how to apply AutomationML to facilitate the engineering of OPC UA servers. In a web of Smart Factories data must be exchanged across organizations, countries, scientific and engineering disciplines as well as natural languages. This requires an agreed understanding of semantics and an efficient means to map information across the above boundaries in a trustworthy, unambiguous way.

  • The pre-registration fee for each session is USD100.
  • Those who register two sessions will be able to freely select and listen to the overlapping ‘A(OPC Day Korea) and B(Global Smart Factory Conference Day1)’ sessions on the afternoon of the 30th.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
For the refund of registration fee, the cancellation request in writing should be received by the secretariat no later than March 22, 2017. Only the cancellation request in writing (via e-mail) is acceptable. The administration fee (Bank charges for remittance, Cancellation fee of credit card payment) will be charged for the refund. Refunds are NOT available after March 22, 2017.
